The Magic Move…To start your downswing, let your weight shift to your left foot while bringing your right elbow back down to your body. This is one move, not two. Practice it again and again, even without a golf club, until you get the feel and rhythm of it. Your eyes should train on the spot where the ball would be. Your head will stay well back. Learn the left foot/right elbow move, and you will hit the ball as if is magic. (Note…switch “left” and “right” instructions if you are left-handed.)

The Left Heel…Letting the left heel (right heel for left-handers) come up during the swing is the best way to keep control at the top and release a full turn. The important thing is this: do not consciously lift your heel; just let it come up naturally as you make your turn.

The Turn…The turn is a natural movement of the body. Do it this way and keep it simple. Stand erect, knees slightly flexed, eyes on the ball. Start your forward press (see notes on “Swing The Bucket”). Then turn your body to the right as if to say howdy to someone there. Shift your weight to the right foot and let your left heel come up gently about an inch. Keep swinging your arms until your shaft is behind you pointing to the target. Now shift your weight back to the left as your right elbow starts back to your side. Continue turning as if to say howdy to someone on your left. (Note…switch “left” and “right” instructions if you are left-handed.)
